was another law that was just passed in washington, so it is a response to the american law punishes human rights violators in russia. it was sparked by the death of a russian lawyer who died died in jail investigating a fraud case at the request of americans in russia. it singles out dozens of russians that police believe are connected to that case. they can't travel to the united states and their assets are frozen. russia has been defiant in this case. it is even launching a posthumous price for the new law and russian voices speaking of saying it's not fair to penalize children. having adopted 60,000 over last two decades, and as you mentioned, there are several dozen cases right now that are pending. several dozen russian children who are in the final stages of this adoption process. those who should be coming to the united states very soon. it is not clear what's going to happen to them. it's very sad because the parents and children have had numerous visits to russia by the parents. the russians have put them through the loops to see the u.s. governm says it will fight to see that th

rights and union rights and economic rights side by side, marching into washington, d.c. that is how it was. when americans push for fair treatment at work, win or lose, they move as a group because they have to. their power is all in the numbers. it is a power of many working often against the power of money, or the power of entrenched incumbency. this is a power that belongs almost exclusively to unions, solidarity. and unions interpret that broadly. they see them working with the working class. so they spend their time and their money and their manpower pushing for much more than pro union legislation. unions push for better access to health care for their members and for all 000 who aren't their members. better social security and medicare and child labor laws. unions push for equal pay for women in the workplace for their members, and again, for the women who are not their members. when states try to make it harder to vote, unions push back, and they sometimes win. just ask ohio republicans who thought they could cut the time for early voting in half until this truck rolled up.

this morning with white house correspondent dan lothian, he's in washington, d.c. okay. so who's got the ball in their court at this point then, dan? >> well, you know, i think the house gop, they have presented their counteroffer which white house spokesman jay carney is referring to as, quote, magic beans and fairy dust. we expect that house republicans will keep putting pressure on the white house to engage, push for more details on what the white house will accept when it comes to additional entitlement cuts. but i think what's unclear is what kind of negotiating is going on behind the scenes. the white house saying that conversations continue, but house gop aides telling me that there are no conversations as of late yesterday, no emalts being exchanged, no phone calls. so it's unclear how they can move the ball forward, if there are no real conversations taking place. there's also another problem for republicans. they're not on the same page. you have that proposal put forward by speaker john boehner that calls for $800 billion in new tax revenue, but some conservatives think that republ

in the state of washington and oregon, feet of snow dumped on out here, good news for skiers, but not for those travelling out here. and the good news for the west coast, we'll start to see the system eastbound and you guys will clear out and parts of the rockies, and you can see stuff across parts of western colorado, utah, the state of new mexico and arizona and then as we head into later in the day, christmas eve and christmas day, the storm is going to ramp up. moving through portions of the central plains and produced about six inches of snow in some place that is typically don't see a white christmas and across parts of the texas panhandle, oklahoma, arkansas, missouri and a winter storm watch that has been issued across the state of oklahoma and you're likely going to continue to see these issued out as that system is headed your way and again, significant snow accumulation with up to six inches forecast for some of you. but, unfortunately on the southern end of the system where temperatures are too warm to see snow, we do have some severe weather possible tomorrow. large hail, damaging
